Valentine's day and Dan's Birthday

First, I just have to say that I attempted to take pictures but my camera battery was dead so...sorry!
Valentine's day was so fun this year! Dan spoiled me rotten with a new flat iron (it takes like 5 minutes to straighten my hair now!), a yoga mat, and "Fancy Nancy: Heart to Heart" (An adorable Valentine's day book). Dan got off work a little early and we made dinner together. For our first Valentine's dinner (6 years ago!) Dan made me steak and potatoes so we continued the tradition. We decided to go a little bit fancier and made Filet Mignon and Herb and Cheese Potatoes. I stole this picture from Martha Stewart but mine looked pretty much the same :)It was delicious! I think it is a new favorite. We watched An Affair to Remember and had dessert crepes (one of my new addictions). It was the first Valentine's day in our new house and I think it was one of the best one's ever. I seriously love Dan so much and it is nice to have an evening to celebrate that.

Dan's 27th birthday was on the 16th. We celebrated with sleeping in and breakfast in bed. We had to go to work for a little while and then went out to Red Robin for dinner. While we were in dinner it started snowing pretty hard. We had tickets to see "A Tale of Two Cities" at the Hale Theater in Salt Lake and barely made it in time even though the restaurant was only a couple of miles away. There were sections of the city where the power was completely out and the traffic lights weren't working but luckily we made it just in time for the play to start. The stage was really cool. It spun in multiple directions and had platforms that would raise up and down as well as a large section of the set that would lower from the ceiling. At intermission we got a call from Dan's parents saying that roads had been closed due to snow and that they had to go pick up Dan's sister and his brother in law because they couldn't make it home. We obviously weren't looking forward to the drive home but by the time the play got out around 10:30 the roads had been plowed and we made it home with out too much trouble. At home Dan opened the rest of his gifts and had brownies. He got some games, books, gift cards, and stuff for his new phone. Early that morning I let him open a couple of gifts one of which was a little Mr. Potato head in a Colts uniform. Dan was half asleep still while opening it and gladly declared that it was a "Potato Manning!" I love that Dan doesn't take himself too seriously even at the "old" age of 27 : )

Life is just so good right now. All we need is a little more sun and things would be perfect!
