Camden turned 5!!!

The day after Christmas we start thinking about Camden's birthday party. It comes up so quickly every year. We usually have all his gifts bought before Christmas and a general idea of what kind of party he'd like. This year was the first year we invited friends from preschool to join us. We ended up inviting about ten kids plus Camden. I was a little nervous when we went to drop off invitations and Camden didn't want to get out of the car to go to the door. We explained that if he wanted to invite them, he needed to come with me. He actually pared down his list of people to invite after that. He got a little worried again as we were getting his favors ready but on the day of his party he loved it!

Just a cute picture
Lego decor was pretty easy and fun. It all gets a second life in our Lego room too! On Camden's actual birthday, Dan took a half day so he could be home in the morning for Camden to open presents.

Birthday pancakes. He didn't want sprinkles or anything.

He doesn't know how to feel about the attention

"This is my favorite!"

Wes couldn't understand why he didn't get to open anything this time.

"I've been wanting this for years!"

We spent the day in jammies playing Legos and watching shows

Ice cream sandwiches for dessert

Such a cutie!

He has the best kissing cheeks

Taste testing the frosting

I see lots of flaws but Camden loved it

Waiting for the party to start!

All the girls were on time and Camden felt right at home with just the girls. Decorating their minifigures.

They had team build challenges. You could tell who played Legos and who didn't!

Building cars for their races

Camden couldn't get all the candles at once so he blew each one out individually!
I can't believe he's five! Camden has grown so much in the last year. He has overcome a lot of his shyness. He is kind and makes friends easily. He loves preschool and is learning to read! He still notices everything and some of the things he says amaze me! For example, we were playing down stairs in his play kitchen and he said "Let's pretend this is Mc Donald's. I'll make some breakfast." I've never taken him to Mc Donald's so I asked him how he new they have breakfast food. He replied "Because I heard it on the radio!"  He is always surprising me with his questions and observations. Camden still very much loves to be a baby and often baby talks and asks to be held, carried, dressed, and snuggled. He loves Wes and is a really good big brother. We are so glad to have him in our family!

Banoons!

Camden offered Wes a ride and Wes made it happen.

Our bean box has saved us from lots of meltdowns during dinner prep!
Now that Camden's celebrations are over, we are getting back into a normal routine. This was our first week with out Dan home one day in almost 3 weeks! We miss him but it is nice to be getting everyone to bed on time and catching up on all the little to dos. It's been snowing a lot and we try to play when it's not too freezing. The Lego room and all Camden's Lego sets are getting a lot of play and it's fun to see Wes, who is talking more and more, interact and play with us, instead of just destroying everything. This week we had two different friends from preschool come play and it is so nice to see how much Camden enjoys playing instead of just sitting on my lap and staring like he used to! We can't wait for all the things coming in this new year. I'm hoping it's a year of sleeping well and taking our little family on new adventures!

I can't count how many times I've watched the latest Instagram with Camden offering Wes a piggy back ride. Like you said, when you offer Wes a ride, you better be prepared to follow through. So funny.
You did a great job of capturing all the birthday festivities.
