Halloween

We had quite the Halloween week. We started off the Monday before with everyone feeling just fine. Tuesday Camden had a low fever and a sore throat so I kept him home to be sure he could recover. His fever broke that afternoon and was gone by the evening. The next day he had no fever and said his throat was fine so I let him go to school.

Camden is getting so good at his art work!
Thursday, he said his elbow hurt. I checked it out and he had these tiny spots. I checked him all over because our nephew recently had hand foot and mouth which starts with sores in the mouth and a rash. He had some tiny spots on his hands and elbows but that's it. I decided better safe then sorry and took him in. He tested positively for strep and the dr said that the spots could be from strep. At that appointment Wes had nothing.
This was the worst of his spots

He loves antibiotics and is thrilled to have medicine

Friday morning, Wes was scratching his back and we noticed some redness in his diaper and back that very quickly turned into a rash. As soon as the dr opened we took him in. By this point the rash was pretty much everywhere but no sores in his mouth. The dr was hesitant to call it hand foot and mouth because he had no sores and had had no fever. He said it looked a little like chicken pox but not really. He settled on folliculitus which is an infection from scratching the skin. He prescribed antibiotics and said Wes shouldn't be contagious after two doses.

Camden doesn't like touching the guts

Finished!

While Wes took a nap we made "potions"

It turned him into the Riddler!
We debated taking Wes to Shauna's Halloween party and at the last minute decided to try. We texted everyone to get their ok. He was supposedly not contagious and we wanted one night together in all our costumes.
All dressed for Shauna's party

Cutest Riddler and Batman ever!

Batman made a good showing for about an hour then went home to bed

His skin got worse over Saturday but still pretty much ate like a champ and slept well. He was super itchy and grouchy though. We kept him home from the ward party.
Saturday morning we were shocked by the spread of his rash.

Poor baby

We kept him home again Sunday but his skin seemed to be clearing up a little and he was acting almost back to normal. Monday all his little blisters were pretty much scabbed and he was acting completely normal. We tried to keep him away from others as much as possible but we did let him knock a few doors to trick or treat. Dan had instructions that he wasn't to reach in any candy bowls!
Ready for real trick or treating

Camden and Dad did a second round after dropping Wes off at home

A very messy and content Batman

The rest of the week he just kept improving but we still weren't sure what we were dealing with so we weren't sure if he was contagious. I had had a sore throat Sunday and Monday but assumed it was paranoia from the boys until Monday night when it hurt to swallow and I had bad body aches. I made an appointment and went in Wednesday. I had strep. So my cute boys got to hang out with me on the couch. Camden rubbed my back and a few sweet friends brought smoothies!
Every morning they play in the "tent" for 10 minutes

Tackling and kisses!

They had to find some ways to keep themselves entertained while I washed and folded at least 10 loads of laundry

Nothing more healing that smoothies in an oatmeal bath!

Thursday we were all feeling better  and after loads and loads of laundry and sanitizing the whole house, we felt ready to reenter the world. While we were out, my neighbor stopped by and asked to see Wesley's skin. She had just been diagnosed with a kind of psoriasis caused by strep. Her spots looked just like Wesley's. It makes sense that he'd have some kind of strep since that's what everyone else had. It helped me feel a little less worried about infecting the world when we took Wes out on Friday.
He's made to be Captain America

Dad's home!!

We got rid of our black table and chairs but hadn't picked up our new table yet.

The table came with a fort!

Friday  Disneyland preparations began in full force while Camden was at preschool. I'm so grateful we are all healthy enough to continue on with our trip! We sent Dan to the dr just in case and he gave Dan a prescription he can fill if he comes up with any symptoms of strep. We told the boys this morning that we are going to Disneyland tomorrow. Our original plan was to wait until the day we left but we had so much to get ready it was a lot easier if we didn't have to be sneaky. Now we will get to bed at a decent time hopefully! Daylight savings and the hour behind us California is are probably going to throw us for a loop but hopefully everyone will adjust! We can't wait!
