Color week, Ocean week, and the 4th of July

We've been busy! Camden said the 4th of July was the best day ever and keeps asking when we can do it again but I have a few weeks to catch up on first.

Color week was probably our most activity filled. There are just so many fun things to do.

Trying on his bow tie for Devin's wedding

Color mixing with ice
They mostly sucked on the ice and then watched it melt.
Watching each color melt
They are always more excited when our activities involve treats.
making rainbow frosting

color build challenge

squirt gun painting

chromatography with markers and coffee filters

Edible finger paint
I like giving each week a theme and trying new activities with the boys but I LOVE when Friday rolls around and we can just play with dad home.

Water balloon fight and chilling in the pool

running through sprinklers with dad

and drying off on mom
I don't know why but both my boys are obsessed with a stuffed animal. We tried everything with Camden and then he found his pup and never looked back. Wes was the same with his monkey. Something about their size and chewable tails.
Wes had to have the Wii remote too

It's an extra special treat when pup gets to come down stairs
We try to get out of the house more on the weekend and do a fun activity but sometimes all we can do it make it across the freeway to the dino museum. Wesley actually loves being able to run free and Camden is starting to get interested in the exhibits so even though we've been there a million times it's still enjoyable.

Next up was ocean week.  I had a hard time with ocean week and ice week for some reason. I think mostly, the experiments didn't match the patience of my kids so by the time we had results we were all grouchy.
Waves in a bottle

learning about currents

Dan suggested we get a fish for ocean week and it was kind of an ordeal to actually get him but three stores and one meltdown later, we had Black Pearl home.

Every few months these glasses make a big comeback
Sometimes we (by that I mean me) just need a break. So we watched Disney Oceans and had octopops!

trying to squeeze into one car!

bottle diver (kinda like the old tony tiger toy)

Jellyfish in a bottle
Ah, the weekend again. Dan really is the best dad ever and often takes the boys out so I can accomplish something at home.
Enjoying the park

A few of my roommates were able to get together to visit when Michelle was in town. It was so fun to see all our kids together.

Playing in the "sea foam"

Dan installed three new fans in our house and you should have seen how excited the boys were when he went into the attic. They were glued to the doorway and kept calling for Dan.
Wes was very distraught that Camden got to cross the gate and he didn't
I thought tie dying would be a fun activity for the Fourth and since my boys (all three of them) love to match I decided everyone got a shirt.
Reading the instructions and sucking on the damp tees

In progress

Dan had a flag ceremony for us on the  4th

Look how happy those kids are!
Our neighborhood always has a bike parade in the circle and my neighbor rents a snow cone machine and everything. Camden never wants to participate in the parade but this year I convinced him to blow bubbles at the kids and they all loved it.

Matchers!
Our bigger neighborhood does a huge bbq at the park.Camden actually went in all the bounce houses and down the slides!

He loved it so much he keeps talking about. We went over to Sam and Shauna's church where fireworks are allowed and did a few fireworks. As we were doing ours, a couple of guys across the parking lot started unloading trucks and trucks of fire crates of fireworks. More trucks just kept coming and soon neighborhood families showed up too. We stuck around and had a huge, professional fireworks show! It was pretty loud and we backed up because we were nervously close but the kids loved it.

Wesley was not scared at all and would have walked right out to the fire if we'd let him

Splash pad hand holding!
We kept with the theme for the week and did fireworks activities.
Shaving creme firework prints

These two. Some days I can't

salt and glue fireworks

fireworks in a jar

Camden got a new camelbak and he has been begging to go one a hike. So this weekend we went to Donut Falls

He's getting way too big! By the end of 3 miles I was dying!

He has been wearing this float around the house for a week

Wes took this picture during Sunday school. One more month until nursery!
Wesley hasn't been feeling well this week and our sleep has really taken a hit again. It makes me so grateful for all the nights he has been sleeping! Camden is doing much better at staying in bed and only comes in once or twice a week but just once a night. I haven't done stats in a while and this post is already forever long so I'll try to do a stats post soon!
