From the hospital

Hi! I'm hanging out at the hospital recovering so I figured I'd do a quick up date. I got here about 11 and did a couple of tests and some paperwork. Then dan and I hung out in pre surgery until 2:30 when they finally came in to get me started. I already had my iv so they put something in there too make me drowsy. I was awake to get on the operating table and vaguely remember them putting a mask on me. The surgery was about four hours long but things went well. During surgery they take out the sentinel lymph nodes and test them. In my case they took six sentinel nodes and the radiologist said one looked like cancer so she took the rest (just four more). Just because my body likes to be tricky, the radiologist during a more thorough exam didn't see any cancer. So now they are not sure and should have all the testing done in a couple of days on the lymph nodes and then mid week next week they will have all the results of all the tissue. Another waiting game! Apparently they have never seen anything like this trickery! After surgery I was still quite out of it and don't remember much other than seeing Dan. I wasn't queasy or itchy at all! I slept on and off and Dan went home to get some sleep (he says he couldn't sleep with out me though!). I was hoping to go home today but I have to stay one more night. I have to do some breathing practice and get some more anti biotics and then they will release me.  I'm up and walking and they say that I look pretty good to go home. I have tons of tubes and drains on and I have to keep some for two weeks. Yuck! Here are some pictures of my lovely adventure so far!

Nioole, I was so sorry to hear about all this going on. I am glad the surgery went well. You seem so happy and so optomistic. You seem to be very positive and that is a lesson to us all. Our family is praying for you.

If you can blog from the hospital, one day after surgery...you would think I could do it from my couch. You are inspiring. Not just for blogging though. Love you. Sending lots of prayers.
