On a happier note, Dan and I have been doing everything possible to keep summer alive since his class ended (he finished and did really well by the way). We have stayed up until about 1 am pretty much every night and later when possible (especially during the Olympics).
We have had summer dinners like you wouldn't believe including (but not limited to) garden grown grilled corn on the cob, bbq beef sandwiches, hamburgers, polish dogs (of course), tons of cantaloupe, tinfoil dinners, smores, and the best part, home made mint Oreo ice cream. We made a gallon and pretty much ate it in a month. We did share with family and friends in our defense.
I realize that I just wrote a whole paragraph about what we've been eating but if you know me at all you should know that food is very important to me.
Moving on, last week we went to see "The Hasty Heart" at the Hale Center Theater. Dan surprised me with tickets and licorice (I told you food was important). The play was really really good. Apparently there is a movie as well but I can only vouch for the play.
We went up the canyon with some friends and had a campfire (thanks Nelson and Julie!) which to me was more like beckoning on Fall than living up summer because we NEVER had fires in AZ. It was still very enjoyable though.
One of our best friends (you Marcus) stayed over with us one night and we had such a fabulous Saturday the next day. We had a coloring contest and Marcus and Dan displayed their skillz. (I know I spelled that with a Z, I meant to.) They tied for first and are displaying their work on our fridge along with Trevor's.
This is all out of order but you get the picture that our two week break has been really chill. Tonight we went to the MOA, which I love to do. I'm pretty sure I have seen every picture in their a million times but I still like it. So, while we were looking at art we came across a painting by Normal Rockwell called "Lift Up Thine Eyes." It doesn't sound like something you would think Dan would have any particular interest in, and he didn't until he noticed that the statue looks like it is flipping every one off. I 'm posting a picture but you can't really see it so you should just go to the MOA and look.
